Who needs an excuse to dress up in a costume? We certainly don’t. Whether you’re into Sci-Fi, comics, cartoons or fantasy, Comicon is the perfect way for Adults & kids to shed their ordinarily human skin and become their favourite character or alter ego via this Cosplay event. With a huge rise in super hero and sci fi movies of late, the popularity of super hero costumes and super villains has soared. It can be quite a daunting task. There are so many more choices now that we’re not going to list EVERY possible choice, just a few of our fav’s, and they may seem like the obvious ones to you, but they’re popularity is rife. So who are you going to go as to Comicon?
Popular Super Heroes & Villains
Steve Rogers aka Caps, is a great choice to dress up as for Comicon, because he was rejected by the military in 1941 due to his small stature, ending up in an experimental program which turned him into a muscly Super Soldier ready to save the world. That transformation alone gets a big tick from us! We can’t think of anything we don’t like about him! Joining forces with the Black Widow, Iron Man, Falcon and many more Avengers, to fight against Thanos and other Villains, he’s the perfect choice as mission leader for the Avengers So who doesn’t love an underdog that comes back to fight all those bullies!
Being the son of Odin and king of Asgard, the Norse God, Thor’s rebellious and arrogant personality makes him a fun choice. Especially in End Game, his party antics were hilarious. We tend to take on the persona of the character we’re dressed as so you have a reason to let loose in this fancy dress costume.
He’s also pretty cool looking, donning a moderate amount of facial hair and golden locks. His clothing style is reminiscent of the Vikings complete with a Viking style helmet. the helmet is only shown in animation, along with his knee high gold boots. In the movies, he wears black armor with silver circles along the torso, with silver chain mail sleeves. He has red wristbands, a large gold belt and blue pants.
She’s one the most loved and iconic Super Heroes ever.
Wonder Woman ‘s inspirational strength and courage fighting alongside men in the war to end all wars would be an empowering choice of costume to wear. Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. I remember watching the tv series cartoon when i was a little tacker and pretending to fly around in my invisible jet trying to lassoo my poor Kelpie. What also makes her a great choice of character to dress as for Comicon is that her costume has been updated and redesigned so many times over the last 80 years. There are plenty of variations to choose from, so at least by going as Wonder Woman, there won’t be a zillion of you all in the same costume!
Did you know that Chewie was married and had a son?
Imagine a family of Wookies with mini Wookies walking around Comicon.. how cute!! You could go as all 3 of them. However height in this costume is quite essential. You have to be pretty darn tall to wear it or you may be mistaken for an Ewok! Team up with Han Solo and Princess Leia and seek out your evil nemesis Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, Kylo Ren or the Emperor. Would make a great group photo!

Whether you’re a lover or hater of Game Of Thrones, the tv series set back in medieval times where Kings, Queens, Princes & Knights battled each other in a struggle to win the right to rule the 7 kingdoms, there are plenty of awesome characters you may consider a hero or a villain to dress in costume for Comicon. We watched Jon Snow’s beginnings as a humble and honourable character, transform into a heroic favourite to end up on the Iron Throne. His get up is pretty cool and he’s loved by most.

We got the feeling early on that Arya’s role would be unlike your regular princess. During her journey she developed into cunning and lethal character. Her potential to take out Queen Cersie was looked forward to by us all. She protected herself and those she loved by taking revenge out on all those who hurt her and her family. A true inspirational hero!
The choices of fancy dress costumes are endless really, i could keep listing them but you can always just look at our costume albums for more ideas. Any character from any movie. You can make your costume, buy a costume or just hire one. Come in and see us, we’re here to help you! If you haven’t been to a Comicon before, you’ll be blown away by the quality of the costumes some people have spent the whole year hand making just to go to this event. But if you don’t feel like dressing up, that’s ok too. Not everybody does.
So don’t get too stressed out about what to wear, don’t overthink it, just go along and have some fun because that’s what it’s all about.
